DCT RoadShow
What is Story Theatre?
It is a performance format that combines storytelling and traditional theatre performance. A (traditionally) small, flexible cast narrates and acts out several stories, songs, and/or poems using puppets, audience participation, and traditional theatrical conventions. The result is a fast-moving and excitingly interactive experience for both audience and actors. Set, costumes and props are minimal.
What do they Perform?
DCT RoadShow's Summer Tour '09 focused on the theme of Music Around the World. Fables, stories and songs, including "Abiyoyo" from South Africa, "How Music Came to Earth" from the Aztec culture, and "Sisters of the Lighthouse," a true story from America's War of 1812, were used to explore world music.
The 2008 program, which focused on personal responsibility will also be available. It includes "The Great Drum," "The Great Big Enormous Turnip," "High Hopes (Oops There Goes Another Rubber Tree Plant,)" and the African poem "Song of the Gold-miners Working in the Gold Mines."
Where do they Perform?
DCT RoadShow travels to Rec Centers, Day Care Centers, and schools to bring their special brand of fun to the audience!
