Audition Notice

Denton Community Theatre Presents:

Rogers and Hammerstein's

“Cinderella”

 

Dates: February: 7, 8 and 9

Prepare: Two Upbeat songs. You may be asked to sing only one. Bring sheet music for the pianist. Remember that the pianist is seeing the music for the first time. Do not bring something difficult to sight read.

 

Bring Headshot, Resume and ALL CONFLICTS.

 

Dress to dance: bring the correct shoes to move in if the Choreographer wishes to work with you. No one will be permitted to dance in flip flops or bare feet.

Cinderella : (age range: 18-22) Pretty and plucky. Must be able to sing, dance and act.

King : (age range: 40 plus) Gruff and likeable. Rotund or must be willing to appear rotund.

Queen : (age range: 40 plus) Steady, strong and smart

Stepmother : (age range: 40 plus) Sharp, angular, not nice. Character actress.

Portia : (age range: 20's) Not very bright. Character actress. Must be able to sing, dance and act.

Joy : (age range: 20's) She is joyless. Character actress. Must be able to sing, dance and act.

Prince Charming : (age range: 20's) Handsome but not a cardboard cut out. Must be able to sing, dance and act

The Godmother : (age range: 40 plus) Practical and magical.

The Herald : (age range: 30's) Featured ensemble role. Must be able to sing, dance and act.

Male Ensemble : (age range: 20's to 50's) Tenors and basses. Must be able to sing, dance and act. The Cook, The Steward, etc. will be cast from the ensemble.

Female Ensemble : (age range: 20's to 50's) Altos and sopranos. Must be able to sing, dance and act. Pointe work is a plus but not a requirement.

2 Children, one boy, one girl, age 10. Must be able to sing, dance and act.

Additional Information : Please be prepared to list all potential rehearsal conflicts on the audition form. Selected readings of the play will be used for the auditions. It is highly advised that auditionees be familiar with the entire play. There will be a dance audition for everyone auditioning for a dancing role. Please wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move.

 

Rehearsals: Begin February 15 th . Monday through Thursday the first 5 weeks of the schedule. Weekends will be added as we approach Opening Night.

 

Column Award rehearsals and Performance night has been blocked off for actors who are participating to attend.
